Schmuck Mountaineers,
Since writing you last, there’s been a very exciting change at The Daily Show that I’m sure you’ve heard about by now: there’s a brand new “Cats Of The Daily Show” Slack Channel.
Because we are a dog-friendly office, The Daily Show brand has often been associated with… dogs. Truth: Bark Magazine once did a cover story on The Dogs of The Daily Show. All the while, the show’s cat owners like me were forced to hide in the darkness.
But then my intrepid coworker Madeleine decided to step up and start the #catsofthedailyshow, a safe space where TDS employees can share photos of their furry feline friends without persecution from Big Dog. It’s a great channel that even has the ominous subheading, “there are more of us than you think.” To which, in my head, I replied, “I hadn’t really thought about it at all, honestly.”
It’s been a great way to see my colleagues’ cats. Christie in accounting just shared a pic of her cat hiding in the dishwasher. The dishwasher! I wish I could share some of these photos with you, but they are technically property of Paramount Global.
OK, just one:
Time to go lawyer up, I guess.
In other news, next Tuesday Feb 20th I’m co-hosting Pencils Down at Caveat. It’s a monthly show where TV writers come and try out new standup jokes. It’s always a lot of fun— think of it as an open mic where you DON’T want to kill yourself. I co-host it with Matt Goldich, a writer for Late Night with Seth Meyers. Matt just released a hilarious special called No Questions Asked which I highly recommend. You’re welcome!
Always breaking the big stories. Glad to hear from the mountain ⛰️
